Bodog Granted UK Gambling License
Online gaming giant, Bodog has announced that they have been issued a go ahead by the UK Gambling Commission to provide gambling services to the UK market and plan on launching a dot.co.uk site.
According to the CEO, Patrik Selin, the new site will be up and running in about three months time and Bodog will be hiring around 100 employees to run and service the site. He said, "Holding a licence granted by the world's most robust and respected regulatory regime is a huge spring board from which Bodog UK can launch from. The credibility and trust that the UK already enjoys in the online gaming industry is immeasurable.”
“To be able to launch Bodog UK with these licences in place is a huge bonus for us and not only will it benefit our customers but will also allow us to attract the best talent in the industry to work with us," he added.
Once the new site is launched Bodog will be able to offer UK casino players a variety of casino games and sports betting services. Online poker however, will be available after the gaming company acquire the relevant licenses.
At the moment, Bodog has three entities that operate under different licenses and include Bodog.co.uk which currently operates out of Antigua and will service UK casino players until it switches over to the UK license in three months, Bodog88 which is an Asian facing site and operates out of the Philippines and Bodog.eu which has a Kahnawake license.
Once the Antigua license is moved to the UK all non UK players will be blocked. “Now we are licensed we can do lots more deals with lots more companies, you can suddenly do a lot more with media companies, you can advertise more freely and there can be more co-operation with media,” said Selin.
