Playtech buy UK Gaming Company
According to reports it seems that Playtech who power a number of respected UK online casinos including Windows Casino and William Hill Casino are on the acquisition trail. In recent times there have been a number of mergers and acquisitions in this space and this seems set to continue. Playtech who are listed on the AIM portion of the Stock market in London have reportedly purchased Intelligent Gaming Solutions Ltd which is a UK based company that deals in Casino management systems.
IGS have a presence in land based casinos in the United Kingdom and Greece and it seems that the convergence between offline and online gaming is something that Playtech is taking a very close look at. According to this report Playtech have announced unaudited financial results that bode well for shareholders. Gross revenue has increased by 26% to €173.1 million in 2010 from €137.3 million in 2009.
Playtech have also reportedly made the comment that daily activity in January 2011 was 11% above that of the comparable period in 2010.Despite this and the profits that it is making from its venture with William Hill Online there are still aspects of the business that needs to be looked at. Recently the company purchased an Affiliate business from its main shareholder, making it the only gambling software company to be in direct competition with its licensees. William Hill has recently taken out an injunction in the legal courts of the UK seeking to protect its interests in the joint venture with Playtech.
This does seem to be a rather odd situation for both parties.
Playtech have recently launched a large number of branded slot games including the latest Marvel Slot game – Ironman 2 Slots .
