Lottery winner returns to work
What would you do if you discovered you had won the Lotto? Most of us who play lottery games often make plans on how we would celebrate a life changing win and many a times the plans involve grand celebrations. 64 year old Ivan Westbury, however, just went back to work.
After having worked seven days a week for four years, Ivan Westbury went back to his desk an hour an hour after discovering that he and his wife had won a lottery jackpot of over £7.7 million. Mr. Westbury who runs lightning protection business spoke to the Daily Mail about their efforts at keeping their business afloat in recession and have vowed to continue working for the sake of their 30 employees.
While the couple do plan on buying a new house, a car and going on holiday thanks to their good fortune, their first holiday post the massive £7,706,631 win will be a £9.50 week long break in a caravan in Cornwall in September, a holiday that was booked as part of a newspaper promotion.
The winning Lotto ticket was bought by Susan Westbury at the Morrisons supermarket in Nottingham on Wednesday and they discovered they had won when she called the local Tesco on Sunday morning. She was advised to speak to Camelot, the operators of the Lotto game, which suggested that she had won a big amount.
After being told about their good fortune the lucky couple drove to a nearby pup to celebrate their win after which, Mr. Westbury returned to work to complete ‘unfinished’ business. He said: 'I'm an ordinary man who has always worked. Susan and I have worked very hard to build the business up and we have got a dedicated workforce to think of. They have stood behind us through tough times recently so we cannot just walk away and leave them in the lurch now, because there are no jobs out there.”
